Our Policies
At LOMA Behavior & Training, we value transparency and want to make sure that your experience with us is as smooth as possible. Below are our key policies to keep everything clear and straightforward.

Because we set aside time specifically for your appointment, we require a cancellation fee that is automatically charged to your account if notification is not provided with 48 hours.
You can cancel appointments via your login credentials on the website, or you can connect with us by call, text or email.
If we cancel a session for any reason, you will be notified by phone, text or email.

We cannot guarantee a dog will never bite. This would violate the Code of Ethics we are bound to uphold as Certified Professional Dog Trainers (Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics). Our profession is not able to make this guarantee because behavior is not static; an animal will not continue to perform even trained behaviors without ongoing practice. Pets are living beings who can develop fears and medical conditions that result in behavioral issues, including aggressive behavior. Especially in cases involving any type of aggressive behavior, although the behavior may be modified, the pet is never considered “cured.”
We can guarantee our staff will be professional at all times. We can guarantee that our staff maintains the highest competence in training and behavior so we can provide you with the most effective, ethical and science-based standard of care for your pets. We can guarantee we will not judge any training choices you’ve made in the past nor will we judge you based on your pet’s behavior.

Our prices allow us to pay our staff competitive rates for their education and the certifications they have obtained to ensure they are the best in their specializations. It allows us to offer our staff health care benefits if they are working full time with us.
We know that this type of quality training from credentialed and certified professionals can be expensive and we do our best to accommodate clients who are interested in alternative payment plans.
We have a variety of payment options for our client's convenience. Clients have the option to pay by credit card, bank ACH payment, or Google Pay. We can arrange a payment plan for training packages. There is a one time $20 administrative charge for package payments.
Financing is also available through Affirm, Afterpay, and Klarna and they each offer their own terms.We hope this pricing policy allows us to keep the highest skilled staff and give you the best training options available.

We do not offer a monetary refund. Instead we stand 100% behind our training.
The success of our program depends on us performing our job correctly and also on you (the owner or handler) following up on the homework and strategies that we lay out.
If you are not able to use your remaining sessions, they can be donated to a foster dog in need. We partner with several rescue groups and shelters. Donated sessions help us continue to serve these community members.

Bites. LOMA trainers are cautious around any pet with a bite history because state law requires that any bite or scratch that breaks skin be reported to Animal Care Services. We want to avoid putting you and your pet in that position so follow these rules:
If your dog has a history of biting, growling or lunging when people enter the home, ensure your dog is secured when your trainer arrives. Your dog can be in another room, behind a sturdy safety gate, in a crate or on a leash.
Some dogs will be required to be muzzle trained before our staff will work directly with them. Muzzle training will be provided by virtual options or from a protected position that prevents our staff from a potential bite.
Equipment. We do not use e-collars, prong collars or physical punishment during training due the harm they can cause. We follow the recommendations of the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior for humane dog training.
Off leash training. We will not train dogs off leash, unless we are in a legally designated off leash area. Even well behaved dogs that are off leash can accidentally cause injury to others in the community, including knocking them over, scratching or biting. For the safety of your pet and compliance with off leash laws, we will only work with your dog in confined and safe spaces, fenced yards or on leash.

All our staff are employees, NOT subcontractors. This allows us to provide you with consistent, quality customer service and training.
We carry general liability insurance and each employee has successfully passed a criminal background check.

Service area: Travel fees apply outside our regular service area within 20 miles of our mailing address, 5804 Babcock Road.
Out of area: If you live outside of our service area, there is a $40 travel fee per visit when a trainer or assistant comes to your house. There are no travel fees when staff provide an all virtual training session, via Zoom or a similar service.
Parking fees: If free parking is not available at a client’s location, all parking fees our staff incur during training sessions will be charged to the client.

All employees are vaccinated and will wear masks in accordance with current local infection rates and if requested by clients.
All clients are encouraged to monitor COVID-19 symptoms.
