For Rescue Groups

We can transform your foster dog’s behavior using caring and effective training plans

Do your rescue pull a dog from a shelter?

Is a new cat or dog showing aggression towards the resident pet?

Do you need help getting your foster adoptable?

Do you need a SAFER assessment?

Many rescued animals come from traumatic situations and have some sort of underlying emotional issue. Strange new people, noise and smells can all contribute to fear and anxiety in cats and dogs. These animals have no clue what has happened to the people they once knew or, perhaps, the only home they knew. They are confused when they come off the street into a new environment. It’s no wonder why they are on high alert and in stress-mode.

Rescuing animals is hard work. And we value the commitment it takes to rescue and rehome the owner surrenders, shelter pulls and street rescues. That is why we want to help get your pets into furever homes.

Your rescue just pulled a dog from the shelter. Your foster is overwhelmed with some concerning behaviors. LOMA Behavior Professionals treat many complex behavior issues that occur with shelter dogs and street saves. Your foster dog needs impulse control, crate training and leash skills. We can train her. Your foster dog needs placement. LOMA can transform your dog into an adoptable pet using caring, practical solutions.

Rescue Outreach Services

We provide many services to the local animal shelter and rescue community at discounted costs. A rescue group or shelter representative can contact us to approve this service for a foster volunteer or new adopter.

Rescue assessment - San Antonio

Step 1: Rescue Assessment, $90*

We start with a 15 minute phone conversation with the foster or rescue to clarify what needs to be assessed. Then we complete a Rescue Evaluation, a 60-minute visit at the shelter facility or in the foster or adopter’s home. During the in home evaluation, we examine the foster dog's behavior, and develop an initial safety and prevention plan. We will address fearful or aggressive behavior first, before focusing on obedience behaviors and give the rescue group/shelter an estimated time frame and report to modify the concerning behavior.

*travel fees apply if outside our service area

rescue training - volunteer

Step 2: Rescue training sessions, $65

When training beyond the initial evaluation is needed, this can be provided at a shelter facility or in the volunteer or adopters home.

*travel fees apply if outside our service area
